Central A/C Stopped; Ice forming on inside wall

I have a question. My house has 2 A/C units, with 3 control thermostat boxes inside to control. The downstairs unit is fine - both thermostats working normally. The upstairs stopped last week and there is no air or cooling up there. The thermostat shows the actual temperature, but nothing happens when I lower the temperature.

This week, ice formed on my son's bedroom wall. This happened once before and the A/C people the builder sent (while under warranty) said the air ducts were dirty. I had someone check it and that wasn't the problem. Then it later worked okay.

So now the ice is back and the A/C unit isn't working. Do you have any advise? My A/C isn't under the builder's warranty and getting the Texas Home Warranty to pay up to fix it will cost $500 just to apply for warranty service. So I want to be smart as to who I should call to fix it, and possibly what the problem might be.

Please advise. Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

Mark in Texas

A/C

Think need more info here for just what you have.
You said 2 ac units and 3 tstat????

The upstairs stopped no air or cool. Did you look at the breakers?

Ice on the walls. Are the liquid and the suction line for the unit in the wall where the ice is?
Did they put freon in the last time you had the ice on the wall.

The air filters to the units are clean? INFO INFO read post #2
