Question A/C not working

I have a 12 year old Rheem central air unit. It stopped working about a month ago and it turned out that the switch was turned off on the furnace. Now, the fan does not go on, the air conditioner seems like it tries to go on but doesn't. The switch on the furnace is on, I have checked the circuit breakers. I did notice that one line was frozen when the "cool" control was left on, even with no cool air circulating or the fan running. Any suggestions? It is 90 degrees and I have had two days without any cooling!

if it is freezing up

and the fan is not running, that is the problem. no fan will cause almost immediate freeze up. could be the motor or the fan relay.

That makes sense. I will check the fan out and see if that is the cause of the problem. Thanks for the tip.
