Question

My Pilot light on my gas furnace keeps going out. What could be the problem?

Your furnace may have a linted and or dusty pilot. This can be verified by yellow seen in the flame. Cleaning and clearing hints and tips I have posted in replies to others will also help you. Read the other postings in this forum.

Another problem could be a weak or dead thermocouple if your furnace is an older type. Or it may be a prover if it's a furnace made recently.

Newer furnaces also have several added safety components not found on older furnaces. Any one or more of these could be shuting off the pilot. You may need a heating agency to check it out.
