Question

I have just purchased a 2100 Sq Ft one level home with a 25 year old Central Air system in the Dallas area. I want to get a newer system for effeciency, cost, humidity control, etc. I haven't had a formal bid yet.

I was curious about the various brands to consider and whether or not 10 SEER would do the job. I have info from the Lennox and Trane factories and they look like the standard brochures.

25 years , alot to think about here. both the fan coil and outside unit should be replaced. as far as the SEER rating, the higher the seer the less energy it takes to run it, but the cost is more for the equipment. concider the new refrigerant, R-410A or "Puron" R-22 is going to be phased out and the cost will go up as did r-12 the old car freon. the ducts should be checked and a heat load ran on the house to size the unit, to the house.
