Help; Is there a reset option on my air?
#1

Help! We had a storm last pm, electricity flickered on and off. Now, my air is not cooling; hubby says compressor not coming on. Is there a reset button;fuses, etc. to check before we call the big dogs in and spend $ we don't have? Thanks!

Check your breaker panel first. Most residential systems have 2 breakers, one for the inside air handler/furnace, and one for the compressor outside. In addition, some systems have a breaker in the service cutoff located near the outside unit.
Turn the compressor breaker off then back on, it's not uncommon for one of the halves of the paired breaker to trip during power fluctuations leaving a breaker that _looks_ like it's on.
Failing that, there are a number of capacitors and contactors inside the outside unit that can give up the ghost when the voltage jumps around like that.
