installing duct between studs

Before I moved into this house, the garage on my split foyer house was separated into one 1-car garage, and a bedroom/office. The only problem is they didn't run the ductwork all the way out. The supply and return are easily accessible, but I would like to run the additional ducts from the ceililng down and between the studs. My only thought is to use 6 inch flexible duct and compress it to fit.

Are there any problems doing this?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Doug

There is a problem with putting 6" flex duct between the studs. You should use oval metal duct or 3 1/4 X 12 wall stack between the studs. You can connect to that with adapters made to go from round to oval or rectangular.

Like Ken said go with the wall stack. Ask for a register head 3 1/4 X12 you will need a 12"X6" wall register for this. 3 1/4 X12 wall stack duct, a 3 1/4" X 12"X6" 90o boot to put the 6" pipe on it. ED
