My central air unit outside runs continuously. The fan inside seems like it works fine, it has very cold air and cools the house perfectly. I noticed today though that when the inside fan kicked off, I could still here the fan on the outside unit running and I cant get it to go off? Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Hi Bill:

Try turning the system off at the thermostat. If the outdoor section is still running, most likely what's happening is the contact points on the compressor contactor are stuck shut. Could also be a thermostat problem, but check the contactor first. Thanks. John.

Hi Bill:

You're welcome sir. It's a good thing you noticed that the unit kept running. Unattended, it would have wiped out the compressor causing extreme wallet pain. Thanks. John.
