Angry Central Heating Fails on timer But OK on Reset

Hi,
Need a bit of help with this one. Occasionaly the lockout symptoms appear on the boiler and obviously no firing occurs it works fine on a reset but lately seems to be happening more often, the main coccurances appear to be when the system has been switched off for a while eg overnight when it trys to fire up in the morning it locks out, however I have had the system running constantly for 24hrs now and it appears to be ok but I know as soon as I switch off and go to timer it will happen again, so it appears that this happens when boiler trys to light from cold. Quite frustrating as its an intermittant type of fault and I do not want to go changing componants willy nilly. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions

By the way Boiler is a Potterton Supreme 50 if that means anything to you a conventional gas boiler.
