furnace gas log question

i have read some of the problems and fixes to ignition/run
concerns here, and have a similiar question.
my hot water gas boiler comes on and runs o.k., but some times
i can hear the gas logs start up ,shut off, then start up again. this does this 3-4 times and then settles down. seems burners cycle
normally with the running of the circulators, temp, etc.
haven't noticed any funny noises and such, but was wondering if maybe the burner logs might just be dirty and need a cleaning.
any other suggestions,or comments would be greatly appreciated
system is about 25 years old.can't remember last time i cleaned gas logs and such.

.
thanks,
dawede

If you can't remeber when you last had the boiler cleaned it's time to have a pro look at it. It could just be a dirty flame sensor causing it to kick on and off till it finally heats up enough to keep it running but with several years of neglect it needs a good cleaning and safety check.
