Thermostat cycles/controls

A new Honeywell 87A thermostat (heat only for HW) controls poor no matter how set over shoots on shut off as temp is reached, then wont start untill too cool. Any ideas?

look for heat anticipator setting, set to proper setting for your unit

Check on the anticipator in it and set it right for what you have there. ED

heat anticipator settings

manuf calls for .8 for HW heat. other 3 zones are set for .4.
darn thing still over heats by 4 degrees, then goes 4 degrees below setpoint before it come back on
any help appreciated

You said new here . If it dont stay with the others and you push the anticipator down some for shorter run and it dont do it. I think I would take it back you could have a bad one. But with the T87 thats hard to belive but could be. ED
