oil burner problem-smoke

I'm having a probem with heavy amounts of smoke coming from my oil furnace every time it comes on-If you have any suggestions on what i should do, please let me know

Smoking comes from too much oil, either left over from shut down, an after drip, or from a weak transformer, not igniting the oil all the way at start up.. Do you notice a rumbling sound? does it belch out the furnace into the house? Have you had it cleaned and serviced ? when was the last nozzle change?

Yes there are flames shooting from the hole in the front of the burner.I just replaced the transformer, so i'll try a new nozzle and see if that does the trick-thanks a lot
