blower motor...sealed??

Furnace is a Luxaire PBKM-LD12 N080F, 1995 model, lp gas. The blower motor makes a noise on startup, lasting about 1 second. It's hard to describe what it sounds like..a loud hum, perhaps? I'm wondering if this is a sealed motor, or if I should look closer for oiling holes/rubber plugs, or if this is normal..

We just bought this house, and have no manuals/documentation, and I highly doubt the previous owners have any info..they didn't even do simple things around the house like weatherstripping/painting/basic maintenance.

Looked online to try and find a manual/owner's guide, but had no luck. It's located in the garage, with the cold air intake directly behind it through the wall into the living room. Cold air intake size is 16X20. The burner looks great, blue steady flame from all ports. It's electric start, so no pilot light.

Also, I changed the filter this morning, and they had two filters in there, one right behind the other...is this normal/ok? The filters that they were using are just cheap basic filters, so I wouldn't think they'd restrict airflow too much, but the old ones were absolutely filthy...grrrrr...

Could the filthy filters have damaged the blower motor by making it work harder?

Lightbulb blower motor

You have a lot of ifs here. You have to look at the motor to see if it has oil holes . some times there are little plugs you pull out and put the oil in. Use #10 oil only and try it if there are oil ports .

If motor just hums, could be the start capacitor that little like tincan there on the blower.

2-----1" filters old trick. Change every 30 days.Take the out side one with all the dirt on it out. Put the new one in and the other old one on top so it will be the first to get the dirt.

let us know what you find ED
