Question

We are about to buy a new gas furnace and plan to add central air at the same time. Will the same size furnace we are replacing be adaquate when we include air conditioning? We have been told different things about this.

Hi:sueg

There are several factors that have to be taken into consideration when sizing a replacement furnace and a new air conditioning unit.

Whatever the current btu rating is on the existing furnace doesn't have to be the same as the replacement. The replacement will have a lower btu rating, do to the higher rate of energy efficiency.

Good Luck,
