installing another damper

Hi,
Justb a quick question..I am going to be changing my flex duct from the bypass humidifier to hard duct....I have extra ducting and it'll give me something to do today....There is already 1 damper(winter/summer) on an elbow of the bypass duct, but will it help to put in another one to help close the duct even more for the summer mode. It'll let less air pass through when running a/c..will that be o.k., and would I install it as close to the one that is there already?
Thanks
George
