Gas furnace; no heat
#1
My friend has on old in-floor gas furnace, in his old house that was built in the 20's, I think. The problem is: the furnace comes on, the burners light and stay lit, yet the furnace doesn't warm up, therefore not heating up the house. I want to find out what the problem is because is always _freezing_ in that house, and I'm about ready to not go over there anymore for how cold it is! :-)

Hi:Brook K.
Aaaah Yes. The floor furnace. Done many of these myself. I have heard this problem discription hundreds of times. The floor furnace lights up but the house never heats up.
The problem most likely is, a spider has spun a web in the burner orfice. Inside the web the spiders dead body remains.
To correct this condition, someone experienced with the furnaces burner removal needs to go under the house, remove the pan, then remove the burner and clear out the spider and it's web from inside the orfice.
Then reinstall everything, soap test the gas carrying parts both removed and reinstalled, light the pilot and let the burner fire up.
This is a job that needs to be done by an experienced service agent or possibly by the gas company, if they preform this service.
Good Luck,
