ignition problems in an american stanard/trane

hi, I put an american standard 80 or 85% ef. furnace and A coil in my attic/crawlspace, its installed horizontally (what a nightmare)!
anyway, its 7 yrs old. when it is working properly, i hear the burners ignite and it preheats for a short time, then the blower kicks on. lately though, the preheat starts then kicks off, then it starts preheat again then the blower starts. now, the preheat kicks on and off twice before the blower finally starts.

any help would be appreciated greatly.

i dont have the cash to call a serviceman.

thanks, Mike

If it has a flame sensor it may need cleaned or replaced. Looking at the burners it's a small rod at the left side protruding into the flame. Just use very fine steel wool.

Another thing, Has this furnace been cleaned in the 7 years it has been in service? If not you should really consider paying the $75 - $100 bucks to have it done.
