Blower Motor Wiring Problem

My blower motor went out and I bought a new one. The old blower had six wires coming from it: white, black, blue, yellow, red and green, with no capacitor.

The new one has eight wires: white, black, blue, yellow, red, green, brown and orange. This motor needed a capacitor. I was told by the salesman at Grainger that there should be two brown wires to go to the capacitor...that probably the orange one would connect to it.

The motor will not run correctly. It acts like the capacitor isn't connected right.
It hums and you have to give the fan blades a push to get the motor running.

What to do?

The side of your motor should have a wiring schematic on it. If not post the mod# and ser# and make and we will look it up for you.

If you bought it from Grainger post the Grainger part #.

It does have a diagram on the motor but I can't understand it.

The model is a GE #5KCP29GK6382 S. The Grainger model# is 3M710A.
