furnace fan keeps running!

I have a carrier incuction type gas furnace. Occasionally the blower fan will keep running even when the heat kicks off. It will only stop if I turn off the heater and turn it back on again. The on/off switch interupts the electrical supply to the heater. The induction fan is rattling noisily too. I don't know if that is related.

the blower problem is probably a stuck relay or fan limit switch depending on age. how old is it?

the inducer motor bearings are probably making the noise you describe

It is around 1978 or so. I found the adjust for the limit switch. It has a dial that you rotate to adjust the shut off delay. I set it for the shortest delay. Is there a way I can test the unit to see which is the problem? Thanks

If this is the old fan limit control you can reset the fan run temp right there. Dont reset the limit.

The only adjustment that I saw was to adjust the shutoff time. There weren't any other dials.
