Gas furnace size
Hi,
I am in the process of having a local (San Jose, CA) HVAC contractor install a gas, forced-air, two-speed, 80% efficiency Trane furnace. The house is a single story, 1800 sq ft ranch. The HVAC contractor says I need a 100,000BTU furnace. The self-help tools on the web informs me to install a 70,000BTU furnace. What to do?

Dont know the winters there or how the home is insulated.
so cant say for sure but it sounds big to me. like we say here get 3 bid on the job and make sure they run a heat loss and AC load on the home .
