Unhappy Vent-Free Gas Heater and children

Hello,

I have a small house, about 800 sq ft and I have a vent-free gas heater in the living room which pretty much keeps the whole house warm during the winter. My problem this year is that my son just turned two. I'm scared to run the heater because he may take something and put it in the flame and burn the whole house down. Most vent-free gas heaters seem to be a foot or so from the ground mounted on the wall. If I move this heater up the wall to where the flame is out of his reach would that hurt the heater's process of heating the house? Is there another way around this? The heater was in a corner so last year I could wedge two couches together leaving about a 2 foot space from the wall that he couldn't get to, but he can easily climb over the couches now...

Thanks in advance...

Wink

:I just hope you get it out of the home for the kids sake.
A vent less heat is a NO NO in most states. Get a carbon monoxide Alarm for there . Before some thing happens to the kid and you.
