Monitor gas heater

My son is now living in Watertown NY (bought an older house)and has a Monitor gas heater. There is no manual with the heater and they are having a problem with the ignition light (no computer hookup yet, either, so I'm seeking info for him). The ignition light keeps going on and off as they are trying to get it to work. There is no gas smell.
Any ideas where they can get an owners manual? - none seems to be available on the website. Also, any suggestions about what is going on with the heater?

Hello: Cathie Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site.

Try to obtain more detailed info specific to that brand and model. Post it all here and year of manufacture also, if possible. More info the better chance anyone has to provide help.

Some basics to start off with:
Be sure the gas supply to the heater is truned on. Also check if there is a knob on the gas control valve that has to be in the ON position ,etc.

Does the heater have a glowing hot surface glow ignitor (HSI)..yes or no.

If so, is it glowing than turning off? Or not glowing at all?

Look around for any detail which may have been overlooked before that might cause heater to not work or supply gas to burners.

May be a power vent fan not working? Power vent fan would be a small fan upper part of the furnace under front removeable cover, if unit is a vertical heater. Other locations on heater that are horizontal.

Does heater have a blower fan to circulate the warm air?

Warm Air Registers inside the house?
