floor furnace

i have a 50 years old floor furnace in working conditions. i would like to replace it with a new furnace. searching through the web and found challenger cozy floor furnace. will that be a good replacement? bay area mild weather whole house insulated with double panel windows the house is only 1200 sf. they wanted 6000$ for a forced air furnace installed. is there any other brand of floor furnace? thanks

Lightbulb Another Heating Unit Possibility

Hello: pfc168

Based upon the floor plan, have you considered a wall furnace? Wall furnace is the vertical type mounted in a wall. Some are single sided while others are dual sided.

Some models come with built in power blower fans to better help distribute the warm heated air. Requires more work to install the electricial and venting system. But is more likely to better suite the needs, distribute the warm air and increase value for the money spent.

"My Two Cents".....

floor furnace

thanks for all the reply. i am leaning toward replacing with a wall unit instead. main reason: the existing floor unit was installed between a room and the hall way, in violations of 6" clear from the wall.
