Question furnace cleaning

I would like to start cleaning my own oil furnace. After spending $150.00 on the last furnace cleaning which took the guy less than 15 minutes I would rather spend the money on the tools and know-how. I have a Weil-McLain oil furnace Model 68. I know that a filter and nozzle change are for starters. Where can I go to find out how to do this job myself? Any help appreciated...

Our public library has several books on oil burners. The advantage of having the pro do it is that they will normally be able to spot potential problems from their day to day experiences that you may not see. If your guy is in and out in 15 minutes I think you may need a new guy. It takes me 45 minutes to an hour to do a good clean and check. He's probably just changing the nozzle and filter yet not checking for proper burn. Just because the flame looks good don't mean it's burning efficiently.
