Furnace blower starts burner won't light

My friend has a gas furnace in MN. The blower starts up but the burners never light so after a minute or 2 blower stops. I had the same problem, tech came out and cleared out a tube which used suction (from the blower pushing air past it) that acts as a sensor, alerting the system that the blower was working so the burners could light. Is this a common design, meaning could she be having the same problem. Don't know make or model at present, furnace about 6 yrs old. Thanks.

When you say the blower, did you mean the main house fan or the exhaust fan?

I am sure you ment the exhaust one.. Yes, the pressure switch may not be closing, and the tube that goes from the pressure switch to the heat exchanger and venting maybe plugged.. So yes blowing it out will free it up.

There could be other problesm as well.. As for the sensor not working, or the ignitor..
