Changing oil feed line
The oil feed line to my forced air furnace is under the basement floor.
I need to change it to above ground. The tank is in the basement ,line about 8 feet long.
Is this a DY proyect? If so what are the important points for a doityourselfer to consider.
Thanks a lot

New oil line
This is certainly an DIY job. Some things to be aware of: Use flare connections only, NO COMPRESSION FITTINGS. Prepare the end of your tubing well before flaring. Do not use any kind of thread sealant on the flared fittings. It is a good idea to protect the line with those protectors they use over extension cords. This is especially important if the tubing is in any danger of being steped on or crushed by any means.

Thanks a lot for response
Is the tubing and fittings available at the local Home Depot?
Is it copper? what size?
Should I bleed the air out of the line before conecting it to the burner?

Home Depot
The tubing (copper, type L or ACR) and fittings are available at any home center. As to size, I usually use 3/8" O.D. (1/4" I.D.) but some places require 1/2" O.D. (3/8" I.D.). I suggest you measure what you have & use the same size. All you should have to buy is tubing & flare nuts to fit.

Make sure you have the shut off and filter at the tank. Works out the best. Yes you can let some oil run in the line then hook it up. but you will still have to bleed it there at the pump after you turn the burner on.
