Question Digital Thermostat Not Kicking on Furnace

I have a digital Honeywell thermostat that isn't kicking on the furnace despite the temperature setting. Right now, in fact, the thermostat reads 61 degrees and is not kicking on the furnace, despite my having set it to 69 degrees. The furnace is working (I've reset it and seen it kick on), the intake and out-take pipes are clear, and when the furnace is on, it seems to be blowing fine. Any thoughts on what might be wrong? It's quite cold in the Midwest right now.

One more thing. About an hour ago, I reset all the settings to 75 degrees just to see what would happen. The furnace kicked on for about five minutes, which did nothing to change the temperature.

Sound like you had a lock out, and when you turned off the power, the furnace has reset.

Now your saying your furance ran for 5 min then shut down??

I'm not sure if it's a cycling problem or what, but the furnace now runs for only five minutes max per hour or two. And that short period of time does nothing at all to adjust the temperature of the house.

How old is the furnace? Make/Model#

5 min per hour or 2, and it will start up again, or you have to reset it?
