How to tell if heat exchanger is cracked

How can I determine the condition of my heat exchanger? Furnace is a Goodman / Janitrol GMPN100-4 serial#9511803935 converted to LP. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Bob

those are notorious for bad HX..pull blower and look for little round crimp rings that have popped off the HX.

Fixed my furnace thanks to this forum.

Just moved into a house with a gas heater. It was working last night when I went to bed, but was not this morning. I reset the power to it and watched. The blower came on, the heat coil came on and was bright yellow/orange, the flames lit, then the coil went out and a few seconds later the flame went out. It would try to do this 3 times in a row then would have to be power cycled to start the process again. I googled and found this forum, I have never owned a gas heater so had no idea where to start, after reading probably a 100 posts and answers, I felt I had a good basic understanding of how the system worked. I then found a post which seemed to match my symptoms exactly. The answer was to look for the flame sensor and make sure it is clean. Sure enough I found the sensor hanging down into the flame, I removed power t o it, removed 2 screws, cleaned the sensor and connected it back. Turned the unit on and success, the heater worked again. I just wanted to say thanks. This forum probably saved me 100 dollars in having a repair man out, and many hours of freezing. Gas Combi Boiler keeps cutting out.

It's a newly installed gas combi boiler. after about 5 minutes or so of heating, the boiler shuts down and the overheat warning light comes on. also.. after you get some hot water out, the same warning light will come on and the boiler will need re-setting so you can get some more hot water.
