oil heat tank

any info appreciated : we moved into a house and was wondering (1) is it safe to have a oil heat tank in your basement ? we have two , one is not hooked up one is which has pvc pipe running from the tank to outside the house where it can have a hose inserted to fill the tank up (2) there are no guages on the tank or inspection seals . Is this legal or safe ? were not using them presently but need answers asap were in ohio and running out of wood for the fire place !

Yes, it's safe to have them in the basement.. As long there is a pipe going outside to get air you are fine.

since you are new to this.. be best to call the oil company and see if they have a GOOD oil service tech, that way they can go over everything to make sure it's up to par, and the burner is cleaned, filters changed.

Fill and vent should be black iron pipe, don't believe PVC is legal anywhere.
