Gas Fireplace Vent?
We have a gas fireplace in our family room that vents straight outside via a triple-line(?) duct. We are in the process of constructing a screened porch on the adjacent outside wall so that the vent will now end up being inside the porch area. I'd like to turn (90 deg) and extend the vent to the new porch wall. Does that sound correct? Are there any standard rules for routing and placement of this type of vent? Is it safe to route the vent lower than the current height? Thanks in advance for any help/advice!....

There is no generic answer to your question. You should check with the fireplace manufacturer's spec's and see how they recommend venting the fireplace. There should be a metal tag somewhere under the firebox with the info. Anything done beyond the manufacturer's spec's can create the fireplace to function improperly and create an unsafe situation.
If your fireplace is a direct vent you usually can't add elbows. If it vents to the rear, you usually can't extend it. No matter what type of fireplace it is, you can not vent it lower.
