Furnace not blowing air

I have a 6-yr. old gas furnace. This morning, I noticed the furnace is running, but air is not blowing out of the registers. Before I call in a technician, I wanted to know if there are any things I can take a look at first -- like a reset button somewhere. I just changed out the air filter a couple of days ago, but other than that, haven't made any changes to the system. Any thoughts on what this could be? I figure the blower motor may be shot or something like that.

could be as simple as a broken belt. check the obvious first ,then troubleshoot to the limit of your ability only. after that call a tech.

a belt on a 6 year old furnace?? I don't think it has it.

Anything happens if you turn the t-stat fan swith to ON?

If the fan runs, then it could be two things.

The heating speed winding on the motor has gone out. or board/relay for heating speed has gone out.

Installation of a programmable thermostat

Recently, I've been trying to install a new programmable thermostat in my home. What I thought would be a relatively simple thing, is turning out to be a big pain-in-the-butt. I've been to the hardware store three times to purchase the right thermostat for my system and tried to apply it about ten times. I guess it is a multistage system or something. I have no idea what that means. Can someone enlighten me on how this system works and to what benfit?... Another thing is, I feel like I hooked the new thermostat correctly, but the display did not come on. I bought the Honeywell 3611 which is a programmable heat pump thermostat. After installation and reverting back to the original thermostat, I don't know if it is my imagination, the initial stage dosen't seem to push out very hot air. Please tell me I didn't screw something up?... Anything comments would be most appreciated.Read More

Gas furnace won't stay on! Help!

I have a Lennox gas furnace and when the thermostat calls for heat, the blower starts, and the furnace ignites then burns for 10 seconds and the burners turn off....then after 20 seconds, the burners turn on again...and burn for 10 seconds and click off again....never burning long enough to create hot air to be cycled through the ducts. Sometimes it will try to get going 5 times before it gives up all together. Sometimes it will take 3 or 4 attempts to keep the burners on and they will keep burning and create hot air blowing through the ducts and vents. What is up with all these false starts?
