Heater blows cool air
I have a Trane gas furnace and since yesterday it has not been able to heat up my house above 60 degress F. I live in Northern VA. The room temperature at the thermostat on 66 and I had the thermostat set at 64. When I woke up the room temperature was 60 and cold air was blowing out of the vents. I went down to the furnace and noticed that the duct was cold coming out of the furnace. For some reason it is not heating up. What can I do?
Thanks,
Scott

What furnace do you have there or how old is it. When was the last time you had it cleaned or looked at?

I think that the furnace was installed in 1994. It has not been looked at since I bought the house in 2004. My family couldn't wait any longer in the cold so I called a HVAC man to check it out. He had to replace the igniter. He said that this was in place of a pilot light. Does that sound right?

Yes it does . Did he try to just clean it first? he should have . but it works now thats the main thing. Dont forget to change the air filter in it every 30 to 90 day .

He showed me that the igniter had a small crack in it. I am not sure if he tried to clean it.
