Question Problem replacing old Honeywell thermostat with new Noma thermostat

"I replaced our old Honeywell thermostat with the Noma 7-day
programmable. There are 5 wirings in the Old one G,Y,W and R and Rc so I
connected those wirings in the new Noma with R connected to Rh. It worked for perfectly for
a while and after about 3 hours I noticed that the LCD in the Noma went
blank.
I checked the batteries, even replaced it for a new one, checked the dc
voltages in the baterry compartment but still there is no display.
Is there any problem with my wirings since I connected R to
Rh or is it just the new Noma unit that is just going bad?"

Thermostat

Was there a factory installed jumper between Rh & Rc and did you remove it?
Most thermostats come with such a jumper which must be removed when using two transformers.

I've never heard of Noma.. Must be an off brand, and you just got the bad one.. I would gotten another Honeywell.

Why changes in the t-stat in the first place?

What are all the terminals on the new stat. You may need a common wire on it and the battery may just be there for back-up.

Noma = DIY big box store POS special (not sure about in the US, but here it's only sold at canadian tire)

Return it and get a Honeywell. Turn the power off before swapping the stat. (don't want to short something out and blow the transformer)

New stat has G,Y, W, Rh and Rc (Rh and RC are
bridged but I disconnected it), C , H1 and H2

I tried to contact the tech support
they provided in the manual but I got the
wrong number
