York Gas Furnace tripping

Have a York Stellar Upflow (model P3UCD16N07601A) that has worked fine this year until last night.

The venter was running but that was all. I hit the reset button (between the flame sensor and the ignitor) and it started (ignitor glowed, gas valve opened, burners lit, fan started.)

It blows warm air for about 5 minutes, then quits without reaching the set temperature on the t-stat - the venter continues to run.

I have to hit the reset button to get it to do this all again.

I've done a complete shutdown and start up a few times, but same thing happens.

I've watched the burners light, and doesn't seem to be backdrafting (unless I have fan switched to "on" not "auto."

Filter is new.
Flame sensor cleaned.
Inductor assembly replaced 2003.

Please advise.

Smile Think I fixed it

While waiting for a reply, I searched the web site for possible causes/fixes.

It was overheating due to having too many flues shut. I had closed some flues to get more warm air on the second floor. Once I opened them all up, and performed a shutdown and restart (as well as resetting the switch) the system started and has remained on going through a few cycles without tripping.

Thank you to all who post, reply and monitor this web site.

I will add to my favorites!

Yep, sounds like it was the limit.

When you have lack of air flow (Vents closed off) will cause the limit to trip on you..
