Unhappy Noisy Furnace

We Recently Purchased A Two Flat Building Which Was Rehabed And Includes 2 Heating Units. The Unit On The Second Floor Is Located In A Closet With The Vent Grill Facing The Hallway. When The Unit Kicks On And The Blower Starts The Noise Is Very Loud. I Know We Can't Block This Vent But Is There Something We Can Do To Lessen The Noise. I Was Wondering If There Is A Sound Deadening Filter Which Can Be Used. The Name On The Unit Is Heil And Looking On There Web Site It Appears To Be In The 90 Series. Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated. Thanks

Are the units belt drive or direct drive?

Start by doing some tracking. Could be anything from a loose belt to bearings going out to one or more broken vanes in the blower. Don't look to mask it, look to fix it.
