Loud Bang from Wall Heater

I have a Williams double wall top-vented gas heater. About a minute after the thermostat turns the heater off, it makes a very loud bang. I assume it's some kind of expansion/contraction issue but I can't figure out which part of it is making the sound. I tried taking each of the front panels off but it doesn't appear to be them. Any ideas? It's like a gunshot and it's scaring my dog so badly she won't come into the house anymore. Also the thermostat sometimes turns the heater off even though it hasn't reached the set temp. I was told that has to do with the temperature sensor.

Loud Bang

You may have a gas valve not shutting down properly. I suggest you get a service person in to look at it pronto.
