Vent Free Fireplace Problem Help!

I have had a vent-free fireplace for about three years. I only use it in the winter months, but when I went to light the pilot light, it would not stay on! I can hold it down and keep it on, but when I try and turn the knob for the burner to light it will not. I cleaned it well and can get gas through the pilot light line, but not through the larger gas line. Not sure what else to try? Any suggests would be helpful.

Maybe the system is shutting down lack of O2 in the home.

Are you aware of the CO2 and humidity this gives off?

Is there a thermocouple in front of the pilot light? The pilot light flame would bathe and heat it. It would look like a small metal capsule with metal tubing running to the gas control box. If you have one, it is probably bad.
