Question What is the best way

What is the best way to remove what appears to be sound proof insulation off of a Lennox whisper heat gas furnace? [about 12 yrs old] While changing the filter i notice that bellow the blwer the inside of the furnace is cover with some black panels filled with what seems like fiberglass insulation. This panels have rips and tears exposing this insulation to the air flow possibely carring fiberglass fibers in the air.As a precaution i sealed the rips whith tape but i like to remove this insulation that may be a health hazard. The insulation seems to be glued to the furnace and a black mesh material was put on top of it to make this panels
Thanks a lot

Insulation

You can remove it if you want to but I suggest just sealing the rips. There are sealants made for sealing ductboard which will work just fine. If you really want to remove it, getting all the loose fibers off is going to be a real pain.
