Every Season Mo'Money!

I live in a home that is 7 yrs old. We have a Trane furnace. Every season when the air or heat goes on the furnace has to be repaired. Sometimes it leaks, pieces have had to be replaced and last week when I turned the thermostat on after an hour or so(heat was on) the thermostat stopped working and the furnace shut down.

This furnace no longer is on warranty so everytime the heating /cooling company comes out its 300-400 dollars and you can be that every season this furnace breaks down. It has been very frustrating.

What could be the problem.? Thx for any replies.

What kind of thermostat; like a round Honeywell?, or one of those newer rectangular programable digital ones?

How do you know it is your thermostat not working?

Sorry to hear you have so many troubles. It is rather ironic in people's cases like yours, where you get a newer furnace to save money in fuel, only to have to pay out a lot in repair bills (same with cars). It pays to learn as much as you can today about various techy things we now all own, because professional repair costs are so high. And that is why we come to this board.

Routine Maintenance

Do you have any kind of routine maintenance done? When people come out to make repairs, they do exactly that, make repairs & don't usually do any kind of routine maintenance.
