furnace problem

I'm at work, so i don't have the make of my furnace. Yesterday I noticed that my blower wasn't working, even when I turn it from "auto" to "on". I then noticed my furnace wasn't turning on, and my A/C unit wouldn't turn on. I checked the breaker, and that didn't help. I hear a click at the thermostat when I change between heat and cool, but get no response from the fan, furnace, or A/C. Any advise?

It sounds as though there is no power to the furnace. Are you sure the breaker is on the "on" position? Is there also a disconnect switch at the furnace someone may have flipped off? Is the door properly installed on the blower compartment? If this is a newer furnace, are there any codes being shown by the computer?

The power is on at the breaker, and the switch is turned on. I was wondering if it could be a problem with the thermostat, since my outdoor unit for my central air won't turn on either. I don't know how old the furnace is, but it isn't new by any means. Everything worked fine two nights ago, and then it just stopped.

It sounds like to me you've lost your 24 volt control voltage. I'd suspect the 24 volt transformer in the furnace rather than the thermostat. Do you have a voltmeter than you are comfortable using to determine if you have 24 volts coming from the transformer?

Wink

At the tstat jump R to G and see if the fan comes on. If so its in the tstat if not then on down to the transformer in the furnace.
