so is the indoor blower running all the time or when you place the t-stat fan switch to on? If it's on all the time, then most likely a limit switch is open. What happens if you shut off the power for a few minutes and the repower? If the blower is not running all the time then it sounds like you're simply not getting heat? Can you find the data plate on the unit and post the model #? If it's an indoor furnace it will be 58xxxxxxxxxx.

Complex furnace but I'll bet it's lowered your gas bill. First thing to do is look at the blower compartment door for a peephole. Look thru it and count the flash codes on the LED. Then take off the door, and look for a label inside that deciphers the code. Taking off the door kills the power which will reset the board. Look for a door switch like the one on your fridge. Press it in and see what happens. It will probably repeat the failure code. Let us know what you find. Thanks.

When you open what likely would be the big access door for the furnace, can you readily see inside where the burners are and see any other components such as an ignitor or even a pair of similar looking wires for it that head into the burner area?, or instead, a pilot gas line (about 1/4 inch diameter metal tubing)?

If you can see such things, can you run the furnace to see if the burner flame comes on and then goes back off in a few seconds?

And depending what else you can share with us about what you can see associated with the burner area (like what kind of wires or tubes head in to it), you might be able to get helped more.

Sounds like you have a fan control board that is allowing the fan to come on by a timer irregardless of any fire inside.

EC- it's a 2 stage model, dual cpu's, two pressure switches, HSI, and so on. This furnace is complicated even for techs.

pony- the LED should be flashing shorts and longs, read the codes label closely.

Then he can let us know if the HSI glows, for one thing. The more he can say the better. As long as he knows where to look and has eyes. Ears help too sometimes, to listen to clicking sounds of relays or at the gas valve, where one can even hold their finger tip on a part to feel if that is where the click comes from.

one long and 2 shorts is code 12 which is normal. look at your return air ducting to see if it came apart. It sounds like you might be sucking in outside air.

Does the furnace STAY lit though? Or does the flame go out in a number of seconds after perhaps you've stopped looking? Keep watching the lit furnace for a while, even during when the blower that sends air out your register runs. Let us know THAT.

yeah, that's a good question. Are you sure the burners are staying on? go outside and feel the air coming out of the exhaust pipe. Is it HOT or just warm?
