Leaking condensate
My York high efficiency gas upflow is leaking condensate from the bottom of the flange surrounding the inducer motor (area 5 in picture). Picture at:

It is a few tablespoons that lays on top of the metal sheetmetal separating the upper section from the circulating blower section in the bottom. My furnace guy asked me to install Fernco couplings in the intake and exhaust PVC pipes to reduce his time and my charge. My question: suggestions as to where in the picture to cut them? Also, should I get the Ferncos with the metal band around them or just use the ones without?
He also suggested I pick up some "blue" high temperature caulk as he'll use it to reline the area where the gasket is leaking. Does this sound right and if not, what product should be used? I assume he is bringing the correct gasket to replace what is there and I don't know why he wants the "blue" caulk.
TIA,
Bob
