DIY Oil Furnace Cleaning

I need to have my oil furnace cleaned , we dont have a service contract with anyone, and I would like to do this myself. Any suggestions? I live in NE NJ, and it is an old model from the 1980's.

You could do it yourself to a point..

You can brush and vaccum the heat exchanger clean. Change out the oil filter, clean burner fan/cad cell and replace nozzel.

You won't be able to do the smoke, and draft test since it can't really be done by eye.. I would advise you to contact your oil dealer and see if they have a good service tech, or refer you to a TRUE oil tech to tune your burner in.

Cleaning Oil Fired Equipment

The cleaning is the easy part. Getting it set up to burn cleanly & efficiently is where the skill comes in. The set up is key & requires the use of specialized testing equipment.
