My home has a natural gas furnace. There is an air intake for the furnace / AC on one wall and above the intake is a "closet", for lack of a better term, which houses the furnace and air handler. Now, this closet is open to the attic which really irritates me. No ceiling at all. I had an electrician here yesterday and we were going through the house discussing this and that and I mentioned that I was looking forward to closing up that opening (which is quite large, maybe 2' by 3'. However, he said that the furnace probably depended on this opening as an air supply for combustion. I would have thought that that the air intake, through the filter, would provide plenty of air for combustion. Who is right? I really want to get some plywood and a can of expanding foam and seal up that gap; I can feel air being sucked into the home from around this closet door when my AC turns on; yet another reason it runs all day, I suspect.. Hi: Is Petro Guard (fuel supply line) listed for direct burial or does it need to be sleeved? :wall: It's the copper fuel line protected by the orange coating. The Seymour website is no help. :gmorning:
