Furnace has intermittent issue

Model: GE BLU120F948Ao Gas FIred Furnace

Symptom: Pilot will light, main gas value will open, it will burn for about one second, then extinguish, repeats a couple times, then ignition control will go into retry mode, after 5 mins (ignition control retry timer) it will repeat all over again.

It will do the same, even if the room temperature and the thermostat temperature difference is significant (8 F difference).

Looking for recommedation.

Look for a metal rod sticking up in front of one of the burners - usually on the far end from the pilot. That rod is the flame sensor. Remove it and gently clean it with very fine steel wool or sand paper. Stroke lengthwise. Easy strokes will do it. don't try to remove metal. Reassemble and try the furnace.
