Bryant 90 pilot light won't ignite

I followed the directions for relighting the pilot light but it won't come on. Any suggestions?

If this furnace is vented with plastic pipe, it will not have a pilot which stays lit all the time.

So you are certain it is a manual light pilot and you followed directions.

Has the furnace ran at all this year, or is this your first attempt at a run?

If it had been runing and went out and now you can't even get it to light, I would supsect the pilot tube orifice got plugged.

If the pilot lights, but goes out after you leave go, then I'd suspect a bad thermocouple.

If this is the first time you tried to light it for the year, I would like to know more about this furnace. Is it natural gas? propane?

Has anyone done anything with gas valves - have you looked? - even at the gas meter, where they shut you off for non-payment and you are only realizing that now? (This could only possibly apply if you only had a gas furnace and no other gas appliance in the house.).

If you have propane, have you run out of it? Or, you ran out and had it refilled, and now you are trying to start it?
