Taco SR501 Single Switching Relay red indicator light always on

Hi,

I have a situation that room temperature rises above the thermostat setting. For example, it's 75 (and rising) while the thermostat setting is 70. I found that the Taco SR501 red indicator light (call for heat) is always on, with or without the thermostat connected to the system. So I think the problem is not the thermostat but rather the Taco SR501 switch relay. To control temperature, I have to manually switch off the power to the heating system. Am I on the right track? What could cause the red indicator light on all the time? How do I know for sure that the Taco SR501 relay is the problem? Thanks for your insights.

I am not familiar with the relay you are explaining but if you have a meter you may want to check to see if something is energizing it.
