Carrier 394 shoots flames out the front

I have a Carrier 394 furnace. It is almost 20 yrs old.
It recently started making a huge bang every once in awhile.
It has been doing it more frequently lately. I cleaned all the burners and the inside of the combustion chamber. The bangs are occuring while the burners are burning and flames are shooting out the front of the furnace. I'm guessing the gas valve is the problem but any clarification would be appreciated.

I have seen this before with older carrier furnaces. It usually is the gas valve. You need to have the heat exchanger inspected to make sure no damage has been done from the delayed ignition.
