boiler keeps running.. and running... and

Hi - our boiler is running every 20 min. (runs on oil) but the heat in our house is set to LOW, low-60's for the downstairs (2 zones) and high-50's for upstairs (1 zone).

On the relay switch box (TACO SR 503), the red light for Zone 1 (which is our upstairs) is lit every time the boiler runs. But, the baseboards upstairs are cold. So, it seems that the upstairs is calling for heat, but none is getting up there?

Also I tapped the bottom of the flow check valve (downstream of the pipes running to 2nd floor) a couple times with a wrench, in case it was stuck.

Would appreciate anyone's advice. I have a repair guy coming, but on Monday (this is a rural area). Thanks and good weekend.

What does the water pressure say and the temp gauge? Since the stat can't be satisfied, since no heat, it keeps running.

When was that 90 reading taken? Randomly, or after it ran and shut off? Or did it just stay at 90, even though the boiler ran and ran and ran?

The pressure is more than enough to get you water to the upstairs, so that is not the issue. Have you tried bleeding the radiators?

If you touch the radiators, or point an infrared thermometer at the fins when the boiler says 90, what do the fins say? Or just stick a regular thermometer in there by them and see.

Do you have any way of knowing if circulation pump is running?
