Oil vs. Propage units

I live in Maine and need a new system. I am looking into Oil vs. Gas. Heat loss is 55. Looking for BTU around 84. My choices so far: Buderus propane / Buderus oil / system 2000 and Biasi boiler w/ beckett burner. Any thoughts? thank you.

LP vs. Oil

I'm not sure of prices of the fuels in your area but around here LP & oil are about the same price per gallon. On the surface it would be a toss up BUT a gallon of oil has about 50% more btu per gallon. That being the case & presuming equal efficiencies, you will burn 3 gallons of LP for every 2 gallons of oil.

In tests conducted by Brookhaven National Laboratory of boilers used for heat & hot water the System 2000 came out on top for efficiency. My only real beef with Energy Kinetics is the fact the control board & combustion chamber are only available from them.

Thank you. The system 2000 is the way we are going.
