Question Water coming from furnace only when AC is on?

Hello,

I have water coming from the top of my furnace dripping down the side. It is a steady stream of water only when the AC is turned on. The furnace is original with the house 30yrs old.

I've read online to try cleaning out the tube that leads to outside, clean air filter.

I haven't gotten around to that as of yet but are there any other suggestions to resolve this issue? Is this cause for concern?

Thanks in advance.

When warm moist air passes thru the air conditioning coil in the furnace, the cold coil causes the moisture to condense. hence the water flow. You need to clean the drain pipe from the pan the coil sits on. Water running where it should not, causes rust and possible electrical short circuits.

Probably a plugged drain from the ac coil. Could also be a damaged drain pan or frozen coil.

yep sure is. If the water runs down into the fan motor it will be $350+ worth of concern.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a general area where I can find the drain / drain pan?
